In June 2026, I took a week-long encaustic painting workshop on Vancouver Island, facilitated by Megan MacDonald (at her studio) along with Jodi Reeb (who I’ve taken classes from before in Minneapolis). This was my first attempt at a purely abstract encaustic painting vs. embedding photos or images… I played around with texture (including a circular metal grate) and layers of rapidly cooling wax on a 16×16 wood panel. I used oil pigments to bring out more of the texture.
